Preparing Community Service Organisations for Climate Change Grant
The grant supports organisations to:
- identify climate risks
- implement actions that will support the ongoing viability and effectiveness of their operations.
This is a one-off pilot program, supported and part-funded by the Australian Government’s Disaster Ready Fund.
Who this is for
The grants are open to community service organisations that operate in the ACT.
What you get
Funding of up to $50,000 per grant is available across 2 stages.

You can apply if you’re:
- a not-for-profit
- operating in the ACT and delivering services to ACT residents
- currently receiving funding from the ACT Government to support service delivery.
What you can do
This grant supports you to:
- undertake a climate risk assessment and prepare an adaptation plan
- implement approved adaptation plan actions.
The total term of funding is until 30 June 2027.
The following timeframes apply:
- The climate risk assessment and adaptation plan must be completed within 6 months of grant execution.
- Implementation of approved planned adaptation actions must be completed within 24 months of grant execution.
Before you apply
Check what you'll need to apply
Check what documents you'll need for your application.
- Evidence of your organisation’s incorporated legal structure registered under the Corporations Act 2001.
- Non-incorporated CSOs can apply through an auspicing incorporated not-for-profit organisation.
- Evidence of appropriate insurance cover held by the organisation (or auspicing organisation).
- Evidence of funding currently received from the ACT Government to support service delivery.
After you apply
We'll assess your application and let you know the result by 1 June 2025
Assessing your application
Selection will be made to meet the priority of piloting the program.
Organisations with different characteristics will be selected, to represent applicants who offer essential services to diverse groups of people with priority needs.
Assessment will be undertaken by ACT Government representatives with relevant expertise.
If you get the grant
Selected organisations will enter into a Deed of Grant with the Territory.
The Deed of Grant will identify:
- timeframes
- funding stages
- project outputs
- required resourcing
- requirements concerning the use of grant funds
- financial reporting.
For organisations under auspicing arrangements, the Deed of Grant would be between the sponsoring incorporated organisation and the Territory.
