Funding for young people to connect with their community

Youth InterACT Grants
This grant helps young people to engage with their community and each other.
Who this is for
This grant is for:
- Individuals who live in the ACT
- Not for profit or charitable organisations.
What you get
A grant of up to $2,000 to deliver a project, event or forum.
Check if you can apply
When the grant is open you can apply if you're an:
- individual
- organisation.
Groups of organisations can also apply.
You cannot apply if you're a:
- profit-making group
- government entity that is not an educational institution
- registered political party.
Individuals
You can apply if you:
- live in the ACT
- are over the age of 18 years.
If you are under the age of 18 you must have a parent, carer or guardian apply on your behalf.
You must not have already received funding to deliver the same project.
You must also have:
- appropriate insurance cover
- acquitted any previous ACT Government grants.
Organisations
Organisations can apply if they're:
- a legally incorporated entity
- a registered not for profit or a charitable organisation
- an educational institution.
You must not have already received funding to deliver the same project.

Groups
You can ask a legally incorporated organisation to support your application if you're:
- a community group
- an organisation that is unincorporated.
The incorporated organisation will need to:
- accept the legal responsibility including financial accountability for your project
- provide a letter of support with your application.
Groups of organisations (a consortium) can also apply if they can:
- list the roles and responsibilities of each organisation
- clarify who will take the lead, apply, and do the final acquittal
- confirm the financial contribution each is making to the project.
What you can do
Your project must:
- provide a safe environment
- be smoke, alcohol and drug free
- be free to attend
- be held in the ACT for the benefit of ACT residents.

- Australian Chinese Culture Exchange and Promotion Association Incorporated – $1,900: A youth musical and dance performance to connect young people from various cultural backgrounds.
- Canberra Institute of Technology Student Support – $1,200: We Play Games, a lunch time youth engagement program for young people to connect through board games, music and creative arts.
- Celebration of African Australians Inc – $1,800: African youth soccer tournament to raise mental health awareness in young people.
- Individual – $339: Recording equipment to professionally produce music to gain an online audience.
- Trustees For Roman Catholic Education Office Archdiocese of Canberra & Goulburn – $2,000: A program to produce and install an Indigenous artwork.
- Tuggeranong Community Arts Association – $2,000: Vinyl Vista Youth Arts at the Tuggeranong Arts Centre, a program to design and install a vinyl artwork for the centre’s gender-neutral bathroom.

- ACT Somali Community Association Incorporated – $1,500: Somali Youth Network, a networking event to promote social interaction and friendship among Somali youth in Canberra.
- Alfred Deakin High School – $2,000: Supporting students to develop a mural with a Ngunnawal artist, enhance the school's yarning circle and create a bush tucker garden.
- Artsound Inc – $2,000: Radio Rookies for Youths, a 3-day workshop to learn how to create audio content for radio and podcasts, create programs and build compelling stories.
- Canberra College – $1,000: GENEXT, a chance for young people to express themselves through a photographic exhibition, musical performance, creative workshops and social activities.
- Cancer Council ACT – $1,180: Sun Safe Skateparks, a combined arts and health program at local skate parks to promote UV protection.
- Celebration of African Australians Inc – $2,000: African youth soccer tournament to engage and connect African young people and strengthen their community connections.
- Individual – $500: Establishing a canoe slalom program in Canberra to provide beginner lessons.
- Individual – $600: Creating, printing and distributing cards with mental health help-line numbers to carry in a wallet or phone case.
- Kingsford Smith School – $1,000: Mentoring, arts and crafts, LGBTIQA+, and reading focused activities to encourage connection to school and community.
- Lanyon High School – $2,000: 4 student groups to each run a day of Youth Week activities followed by a school BBQ and celebration of Lanyon young people.
- Melba Copland Secondary School – $2,000: The Breakfast Club, a program that helps students develop self-confidence through strength training and healthy lifestyle habits.
- Molonglo Valley Community Forum – $2,000: A 2-day youth drama workshop co-designed by young people in the Molonglo Valley.
- Mosaic Baptist Church – $2,000: Evatt Youth and Community Garden Project, a community garden at the youth drop-in space where the community can help young people grow produce.
- Muslim Sisters To Action Incorporated (MustACT) – $2,000: 2023 Girls Talk and Self Defence, a 10-session program for Muslim girls in Canberra to discuss youth issues and learn self-defence.
- UCSSC Lake Ginninderra College – $1,500: Dungeons and Dragons and other games to help students form friendships while engaging in an activity they enjoy.
