Cabinet date: 11 May 2022
National Pollutant Inventory Memorandum of Understanding 2021-22
Minute Number: 22/182/CAB
Cabinet agreed the ACT Government sign the Memorandum of Understanding relating to the operation of the National Pollutant Inventory for 2021-22 at the agency level.
The National Pollutant Inventory is a public internet database that the community, industry, and government can access to view information about the emission and transfer of 93 toxic substances which may affect them locally. The Inventory will have positive wellbeing impacts in the environment and climate domain.
ACT Government submission to Australia’s response to ILO second report: A framework for quality apprenticeships
Minute Number: 22/255/CAB
Cabinet agreed the ACT’s response, supporting steps by the Australian Government towards the development of an International Labour Organisation Recommendation for establishing a framework for quality apprenticeships.
Under the requirements of the ACT Government Cabinet Handbook, no Wellbeing Impact Assessment was required for this item.
Deferrable medical interventions on intersex people – exposure draft bill for community consultation
Minute Number: 22/251/CAB
Cabinet agreed to release for community consultation draft legislation to protect the human rights of intersex people (people with variations in sex characteristics) in medical settings.
Legislation to protect the human rights of intersex people will support the provision of additional care services and a regulatory framework protecting people with variations in sex characteristics. It would also contribute to the dismantling of social and medical norms about bodies having to conform to particular binary norms of male and female.
Zero Emission Government Facility Guidelines
Minute Number: 22/248/CAB
Cabinet agreed to the Zero Emission Government Facility Guidelines to support directorates in the delivery of the Parliamentary and Government Agreement commitment to ensure all new ACT Government buildings and facilities are fossil-fuel-gas free.
It is anticipated that the transition away from fossil-fuel consuming assets will ultimately help to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in the Territory, and as such have a positive impact on our environment and climate.
Gas Transition Plan – Electrification pathway and draft Utility Impact Statement
Minute Number: 21/828/CAB
Cabinet considered issues related to the transition away from fossil fuel gas, and advice on pathways for electrification.
The Environment and Climate domain is the most closely related wellbeing indicator to the purpose of the Integrated Energy Plan development work, as it seeks to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions from gas use in the ACT. The Living standards domain is also relevant as the project seeks to manage the transition in such a way that consumers are not worse off, but preferably will be better off financially in the long term.
