Amendments to the National Legal Assistance Partnership 2020-25

Cabinet agreed the ACT Attorney-General counter-sign amendments to the National Legal Assistance Partnership (2020-2025) (NLAP), which removes Estimated Time Spent (ETS) reporting requirements and lobbying restrictions on ACT’s community legal assistance providers.

The amendments to the NLAP will enable resource-constrained community legal assistance organisations to focus resources on critical frontline service delivery, to better meet the needs of vulnerable Canberrans. The removal of the prohibition of lobbying will enable service providers to advocate for the interests and wellbeing of the Canberra community.

Private Cladding Remediation Loan Provider – Asset Holding Arrangement

Cabinet considered asset holding arrangements and agreed to the procurement of securitised trusts for protecting the Territory’s interests under the ACT Private Buildings Cladding Concessional Loan Scheme and the ACT Government Sustainable Household Scheme.

The procurement of securitised trusts provide for the prudent financial management of the Territory’s investment.

West Belconnen Joint Venture – Participant Substitution

Cabinet Agreed to substituting the Territory with the Suburban Land Agency in the West Belconnen Joint Venture.

The submission has limited impact on wellbeing as it only impacts Governance and Institutions, and streamlines internal reporting processes.

National Information Sharing Framework – Federal Funding Agreement Schedule

Minute Number: 23/253/CAB

Cabinet agreed to a Federation Funding Agreement Schedule to implement the National Strategic Framework for Information Sharing Between the Family Law and Family Violence and Child Protection Systems (the Framework).

The Framework is intended to promote safety and freedom from family violence for children, and for adult parties to parenting proceedings.

Government Response to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts – Inquiry into the Appropriation Bill 2022-2023 (No.2) and Appropriation (Office of the Legislative Assembly) Bill 2022-2023 (No.2)

Cabinet agreed the Government Response to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts – Inquiry into the Appropriation Bill 2022-2023 (No.2) and the Appropriation (Office of the Legislative Assembly) Bill 2022 2023 (No.2); and the Government Response be tabled in the ACT Legislative Assembly.

Under the requirements of the ACT Government Cabinet Handbook, no Wellbeing Impact Assessment was required for this item.

Condolence motion – Aunty Agnes Shea, OAM

Cabinet agreed the Chief Minister present an Executive Motion on the passing of Ngunnawal Elder Aunty Angus Shea, OAM in the ACT Legislative Assembly.

The passing of Aunty Agnes Shea is being and will continue to be deeply felt across the ACT and region. Recognition of Aunty Agnes Shea’s contributions to community over several decades, through a condolence motion and other arrangements, supports belonging and acknowledges the values Aunty Agnes stood for and their importance to the community.

ACT Government submission to the Legislative Assembly Select Committee Inquiry into Cost of Living Pressure in the ACT

Cabinet agreed to lodge the ACT Government submission to the Committee Secretary of the Legislative Assembly Select Committee inquiry into cost of living pressures in the ACT.
