Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2023 – Agreement to Introduce

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Human Rights introduce the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2023 to the ACT Legislative Assembly that will establish a framework for Voluntary Assisted Dying in the ACT.

The introduction of the Voluntary Assisted Dying Bill 2023 will have a positive impact in the 'health' domain of the ACT Wellbeing Framework. The Bill will enable eligible Canberrans to have access to end-of-life choices that align with their rights, values, and preferences.

Western Edge Investigation – Capability and Suitability Assessment Update

Cabinet agreed further investigations of the Western Edge Investigation Area occur subject to future consideration of a Budget business case.

It is anticipated that the proposal may have the impacts across the Housing and Home wellbeing domain. In the future, impacts across the wellbeing domains of Economy and Environment and Climate may also be expected.

Government Response - Fuel Price Monitoring - Assembly Resolution of 31 May 2023

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Business and Better Regulation present a Ministerial Statement to the ACT Legislative Assembly providing the Government’s response to the ACT Legislative Assembly Resolution of 31 May 2023 relating to fuel price monitoring and tabling the FuelCheck Post Implementation Review – Summary Report.

The ongoing operation of FuelCheck in the ACT will have positive impacts across the Governance and Institutions and Living Standards wellbeing domains.

Supplementary Paper – Government Position – Bail Amendment Bill 2023 (Dr Marisa Paterson MLA’s Private Members’ Bill)

Cabinet agreed to a position on the Bail Amendment Bill 2023.

The Bail Amendment Bill 2023 engages the Safety wellbeing domain, and the Government seeks to promote the safety and wellbeing of road users, which affects the whole ACT community.

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Education and Youth Affairs deliver a Ministerial Statement on the Future of Education Ideas Summit to the ACT Legislative Assembly.

Canberra Theatre Redevelopment Project - Car parking

Cabinet agreed to development of a new strategy for parking in the Canberra Theatre Centre precinct.

A redeveloped Canberra Theatre Centre will have a positive impact on the identity and belonging of Canberra as a centre of creativity, as well as positive impacts on social connection and the economy.
