Infrastructure Priority List - ACT proposals

Cabinet agreed to the ACT Government preparing proposals for submission to Infrastructure Australia for their consideration on the Infrastructure Priority List.

The proposal is expected to have minor wellbeing impacts to the Governance and Institutions domain by promoting trust in government. The successful listing of proposals on the Infrastructure Priority List would support the ACT to advocate for Australian Government investment in ACT infrastructure, which would in turn support the liveability of our city by enabling infrastructure to be delivered when its needed most.

Motion - 2026 Assembly Sitting Calendar

Cabinet agreed the Manager of Government Business move the Motion – 2026 Assembly Sitting Calendar in the ACT Legislative Assembly.

Government Response - ACT Auditor-General's Report No. 4 of 2025 - Performance Audit Report - Gaming Machine Licensee Regulation

Cabinet agreed to the Government Response to the Auditor-General’s Performance Report: No. 4 of 2025 – Gaming Machine Licensee Regulation.

The ACT Auditor-General’s Report No. 4 of 2025 – Gaming Machine Licensee Regulation recommendations support the ongoing improvement of the ACT Gambling and Racing Commission’s regulatory practices and operational effectiveness.

Education; School Budgets and cost Pressures

Cabinet agreed a business case will come forward to address ACT Public School system cost pressures relating to the 2025 and 2026 school years.

The main wellbeing impact of this submission is education and life-long learning. The cost pressures identified in this submission relate to education service delivery as they have been primarily driven by increased resource requirements for students with complex individual needs and students with disabilities as well as workforce issues.

ACT Government Submission – Standing Committee Inquiry into the Payroll Tax Amendment Bill 2025

Cabinet agreed to provide the ACT Government submission to the Legislative Assembly Standing Committee inquiry into the Payroll Tax Amendment Bill 2025.

The ACT Government submission will positively impact the governance and instruction domain by promoting trust through open access and transparency of government information.

Agreement to Introduce - Building and Construction Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 (No 2)

Cabinet agreed to the Minister for Planning and Sustainable Development presenting the Building and Construction Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 (No 2) to the ACT Legislative Assembly.

The Building and Construction Legislation Amendment Bill 2025 (No 2) will have impacts across the home and housing, as well as the economy, domains, by improving and clarifying building and construction regulatory requirements.

Government Procurement Amendment Bill 2025 – Agreement to Introduce

Cabinet agreed to the introduction of the Government Procurement Amendment Bill 2025.

If passed, the Bill will address wellbeing by improving the efficiency and effectiveness of procurements. This will contribute to the domain of governance and institutions, increasing the community’s confidence that the ACT Government procurement process is transparent and accountable, while supporting local and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses.

ACT Government Response to The Long Yarn report

Cabinet agreed to the ACT Government Response to The Long Yarn report being tabled in the Legislative Assembly.

The Government’s Response to The Long Yarn report and implementation of its recommendations will positively impact safety, health, identity and belonging, and governance and institutions by enabling improved safety of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victim-survivors of domestic, family and sexual violence, and by ensuring that community-identified solutions are mobilised through sustained investment in Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisations.

Government Response - Molonglo Valley Proposed Police Station - Assembly Resolution of 8 April 2025

Cabinet agreed to the Legislative Assembly resolution which confirms the Government’s commitment to delivering a police station in the Molonglo Valley.

Government Response – Review of a Critical Incident by the ACT Custodial Inspector – Suspected Drug Overdose Endangering Life of a Detained Person at the Alexander Maconochie Centre 21 May 2024

Cabinet agreed to the tabling of the Government Response – Review of a Critical Incident – Suspected Drug Overdose Endangering Life of a Detained Person at the Alexander Maconochie Centre 21 May 2024.

The Government Response addresses recommendations made by the ACT Custodial Inspector. Implementing the recommendations the ACT Government has agreed to will contribute to continuous improvement of the care, treatment and safety of detainees and staff at the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC).
