Government Response – Women’s Safety Improvement – Assembly Resolution of 25 June 2025

Cabinet agreed to the Government response to the Assembly Resolution of 25 June 2025 regarding women’s safety improvement.

The response to this motion outlines the ACT Government’s measures that deliver a balanced suite of domestic, family and sexual violence prevention and response measures, and infrastructure improvements guided by the Gender Sensitive Urban Design Guidelines to improve women’s safety in the ACT.

Government Response to Divestment from the Economy of Genocide (E-PET-055-25 and E-PET-069-25)

Cabinet agreed to the Government response to the petitions E-PET-055-25 and PET-069-25 Divestments from the Economy of Genocide.

There is no direct wellbeing impacts associated with this decision. However, the value the ACT Government’s Responsible Investment Policy framework delivers for the community includes more sustainable financial investment returns, a stronger alignment with values, increased public confidence in investment practices and processes, accountability and transparency.

Ministerial Statement – Status of new Climate Change Strategy

Cabinet agreed to the Minister for Climate Change, Environment, Energy and Water delivering a Ministerial Statement in the Legislative Assembly in response to the Assembly Resolution of 23 September 2025 calling for a status update on the next Climate Change Strategy.

While this decision has no direct impact on wellbeing, the next Climate Change Strategy will determine policy direction under the Environment and Climate domain for the next decade. The new Strategy is also likely to impact most other wellbeing domains through outlining a pathway to minimise climate impacts on and maximise the benefits of climate action for all sectors of the community.

Government response to E-PET-051-25 and PET-075-25 - Closure of SDN Bluebell

Providing a government response to the petition positively impacts community wellbeing by reinforcing trust in government and demonstrating a commitment to listening and responding to community concerns. It demonstrates an ongoing commitment to working with and supporting the not-for-profit early childhood education and care sector.

Ginninderra Falls Petitions E-PET-020-25 and PET-074-25 ACT Government Response

The Ginninderra Falls is a valuable ecological and heritage precinct. Current land zoning of C2 Environmental Conservation will protect the areas of ecological and cultural significance in perpetuity.

Creative Workplaces - Intergovernmental Partnership Agreement

Cabinet agreed for the ACT Government to co-invest in the Creative Workplaces Intergovernmental Agreement to provide funding to Creative Workplaces.

Supporting fair, safe, and respectful workplaces in the arts and creative sector is essential to building sustainable careers for artists, arts workers, and creatives. This proposal focuses on equity – ensuring access to clear, reliable information about fair pay, working conditions and employer obligations across the creative workforce. The support will position Canberra’s arts and cultural industries to thrive, creating more diverse, high-quality artistic and cultural experiences for creative and audience engagement. The positive impacts for Canberra’s creative sector and audiences include enhanced living standards, stronger identity and sense of belonging, improved health outcomes and deeper social connection.
