Ministerial Statement – Update on Implementation of Foundational Supports and Thriving Kids

Cabinet agreed to the Minister for Disability, Carers and Community Services make a Ministerial Statement to provide an update on the implementation of foundational supports, Thriving Kids in the ACT.

The Ministerial Statement provides an assurance around the progress of Thriving Kids planning and roll-out, and, as such, realising the associated wellbeing benefits this will entail. The Ministerial Statement is expected to have positive wellbeing impacts on people with disability in the ACT, including on children with disability, their carer and families. Thriving Kids is expected to have positive wellbeing impacts in the health, education and life-long learning and access and connectivity domains.

Cemeteries Fees and Charges 2026 - Memorial Hall

Cabinet agreed to the proposed Cemeteries and Crematoria (Gungahlin Memorial Hall and Condolence Lounge Fees) Fee Instrument 2026 (No 1).

The benefits in relation to identity and belonging through the provision of a full-service offering, enabling commemoration of the communities loved ones and improved economic benefits through an increase in market share for the organisation.

Progress Report - Independent inquiry into ACT health system data, demand and processes

Cabinet agreed the Minister for Health table the Progress Report for the Independent inquiry into ACT health system data, demand and processes in the ACT Legislative Assembly.

In accordance with the ACT Cabinet Handbook, a Wellbeing Impact Assessment is not required for this item.

ACT Submission to Productivity Commission Inquiry – 2018 GST Distribution Reforms

Cabinet agreed the Treasurer provide the ACT’s Submission to the PC’s public inquiry into the 2018 Goods and Services Tax (GST) distribution reforms.

The Government’s participation in the Productivity Commission’s public inquiry advances the governance and institutions wellbeing domain.

Trade Licencing – Agreement to stakeholder consultation

Cabinet agreed to stakeholder consultation on the proposed approach to the ACT Government’s commitment to extend trade licensing within the building and construction sector

The consultation process outlined in the submission will positively contribute to the wellbeing domain of Housing and Home, which promotes access to safe, secure, and high-quality housing for all Canberrans.

Consultation Paper: Reforming the regulation of Sex Work in the ACT

Cabinet agreed to public consultation on reforming the regulation of sex work in the ACT.

The proposal has a primary positive impact on the governance and institutions domain by seeking the views of stakeholders and the broader community on how sex work is regulated in the ACT. The feedback received on the public consultation paper will have secondary positive impacts on the Canberra community in the safety domain, the health domain, and the identity and belonging domain by reducing stigma and informing policy development on possible sex work reforms.

Federation Funding Agreement Schedule - Disaster Ready Fund Round Three

Cabinet agreed to enter into an agreement with the Commonwealth Government to deliver disaster resilience and risk reduction projects under the Disaster Ready Fund Round Three.

The agreement will have a positive impact on the wellbeing of all Canberrans by reducing the contributors to, and consequences of, disasters in the ACT. It improves safety by reducing the impacts of disasters on people, assets and services.

ACT Government Submissions – Commonwealth Industrial Relations Reforms

Cabinet agreed the ACT Government submissions to the House of Representatives Standing Committee on Employment, Workplace Relations, Skills and Training Inquiry into the operation and adequacy of the National Employment Standards, and Australian Government’s Department of Employment and Workplace Relations Consultation on developing a Secure Australian Jobs Code.

The ACT Government submissions to Commonwealth law reform consultations, advocating for industrial relations laws that improve working conditions, have a positive wellbeing impact within the Governance and Institutions domain for Canberran workers and the broader Australian workforce.
