Liquid Fuels Coordination and Powers

Cabinet received an update regarding liquid fuels coordination and agreed for the Minister for Climate Change, Environment, Energy and Water to explore options in line with the National Fuel Security Plan.

Public Transport Fare Relief Options

Cabinet agreed to reduce the monthly cap on public transport fares for three months.

While the proposed measures are expected to deliver significant short-term wellbeing benefits through improved affordability and accessibility, these benefits must be balanced against potential operational pressures, with careful planning, monitoring and communication required to maximise positive outcomes and mitigate any adverse impacts.

ACT Government submission to the Standing Committee of PAA - Specialist Disability Accommodation service delivery through Housing ACT

Cabinet agreed to the ACT Government submission to the Standing Committee on Public  Accounts and Administration Inquiry into Specialist Disability Accommodation service delivery  through Housing ACT.

The ACT Government’s submission to the Standing Committee on Public Accounts and  Administration Inquiry into Specialist Disability Accommodation (SDA) service delivery through  Housing ACT, seeks to enhance understanding of the SDA program, circumstances around the  registration and lapse of registration of Housing ACT as an SDA provider, and ensure the  Committee can effectively consider the circumstances of this matter and its impact on people  with disability.

Murray-Darling Basin Plan Review – ACT position

Cabinet agreed to ACT priorities for the Basin Plan Review, and for the Minister for Climate Change, Environment, Energy and Water to provide a Government Response during the public consultation period on the Murray-Darling Basin Authority’s Discussion Paper. Cabinet also noted the ACT will continue to engage in the Basin Plan Review throughout 2026.

The ACT Government’s Response provides a foundation for progressing the ACT’s interests in the Basin Plan Review and seeking positive outcomes for the ACT community. It addresses key issues which underpin healthy and sustainable waterway management, including water security, ecosystem health, First Nations engagement, and efficient administration. In doing so, it sets a direction for engagement in the Review which is beneficial to all Canberrans across a wide range of wellbeing domains.
