ACT Road Safety Framework 2026-2031

Cabinet agreed to publication of the ACT Road Safety Framework 2026-2031, the ACT Road Safety Framework 206-2031: Listening Report and the Road Safety Report Card 2025.

The proposal will have a positive impact on the primary wellbeing domain of safety and its corresponding road safety indicator by delivering road safety policy continuity for the ACT that is anchored in the Safe System as globally and nationally recognised best-practice.

Deep Creek Waterway

Cabinet agreed to assess the feasibility of a naturalised waterway design for the Deep Creek Waterway project in Whitlam.

The Wellbeing Impact Assessment identified that the proposal would have a positive impact in the economic domain through supporting the delivery of new homes in Whitlam, improving the quality of the surrounding open-space corridor, and creating new places for recreation and community use.

The ACT Government Response to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body Hearings August 2025 – Thirteenth Report to the ACT Government

Cabinet agreed to the Government Response to the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body Hearings August 2025 – Thirteenth Report to the ACT Government and to table the response in the Legislative Assembly.

The work and initiatives described in the Government Response seek to implement the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Agreement 2019-2028 (ACT Agreement) and the National Agreement on Closing the Gap (National Agreement) to deliver better outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This work impacts all wellbeing areas of the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the ACT.

Public Trustee and Guardian - Estate Services Structure Review

Cabinet agreed to the Public Trustee and Guardian’s undertaking further work on its Estate Administration Services model.

Cabinet considered the Trustee and Guardian’s Estate Services design, in order for this function to be financially sustainable and aligned with the Public Trustee and Guardian’s purpose.

Government Response to the Office of the Inspector of Custodial Services Report - Healthy Prison Review of the Alexander Maconochie Centre

Cabinet agreed to the tabling of the Government Response – Report of a Healthy Prison Review of the Alexander Maconochie Centre.

The Government Response addresses recommendations made by the ACT Custodial Inspector. Implementing the recommendations the ACT Government has agreed to will contribute to continuous improvement of the care, treatment and safety of detainees and staff at the Alexander Maconochie Centre (AMC).

Proposed technical solution for the ACT Firearms Registry

Cabinet agreed to the preferred technical solution for the ACT firearms registry.

The National Firearms Registry (NFR) is expected to positively impact the safety domain by improving both perceived and actual safety for community members and police. The ACT’s NFR program will also enhance wellbeing in the governance and institutions domain by promoting trust through implementation of firearms safeguard measures and strong governance structures.

Light Rail Stage 2A – Additional Business Support Measures

Cabinet agreed that support for business within the Light Rail Stage 2A construction footprint will be delivered through the continuation of existing business support measures.

Existing business support measures have a positive impact by providing support to businesses in the city who are impacted by disruption in the city, cost of living challenges, and other compounding factors.
