About natural resource management
Natural resource management (NRM) is a way the ACT Government looks after our:
- land
- water
- biodiversity
- cultural assets.
These resources are essential for our survival and wellbeing. NRM considers the benefits and ecosystem services provided by our natural environment, including:
- clean drinking water
- fresh air
- the decomposition of waste
- preparing for extreme weather events
- food production
- mental and physical wellbeing.

ACT Natural Resource Management and the Natural Heritage Trust
ACT Natural Resource Management (ACT NRM) is one of 54 regional NRM organisations in Australia. It is the Australian Government's Regional Delivery Partner (RDP) for the ACT. Under the RDP program, and funded by the Natural Heritage Trust, projects will be delivered in 2023-2028 to support:
- restoring grasslands and woodlands ecological communities
- managing threats to high country wetlands
- accelerating farmers uptake of climate-smart, sustainable practices.
