Education and lifelong learning

Learning for life

Post-school education improves employment opportunities, which in turn contributes to overall wellbeing and life satisfaction.

Proportion of ACT adults with non-school qualifications

This measure shows the proportion of Canberrans aged 15-74 with at least one formal non-school qualification, which refer to tertiary qualifications such as certificates, diplomas, and degrees from a university or TAFE.

Higher levels of non-school qualifications are associated with education accessibility, improved labour market outcomes, lifelong learning, and social wellbeing.

Around 71% of Canberrans hold non-school qualifications. This compares with 64% nationally, and between 60% and 68% across other states and territories.

Over time, the ACT has remained stable, with a slight upward trend.
