All Canberrans can participate on equal terms, regardless of age, gender, cultural background or disability. We recognise and value the First Nations residents of the ACT region and celebrate our Australian identity. We are proud to be Canberrans.

Wellbeing Indicators

Being able to express our identity, feel connected to and valued by those around us and participate fully in society are key factors of wellbeing. A person’s sense of belonging can have close links to their experience of social connection. While these concepts are linked, they are not dependent on each other. A person can have a limited number of social contacts and still feel that they belong to their community, or have frequent social contact but still feel isolated or excluded. This sense of identity and belonging is particularly important for people who may experience marginalisation, exclusion or structural discrimination.
