Damage to Namadgi National Park

The 2020 bushfire and floods caused severe damage to Namadgi National Park and Tidbinbilla Nature Reserve. Some of the areas damaged include:

  • roads
  • walking trails
  • campgrounds
  • picnic areas
  • signs
  • other visitor and management facilities.

Support for rural landowners

Several ACT landowners were also affected by the 2020 bushfire and floods. It damaged about 3,350 hectares of rural land and 109km of boundary fencing.

The ACT Government has worked with these landowners and provided $625,000 to repair and replace boundary fencing. Fencing is important to:

  • stop livestock from entering Namadgi
  • keep out feral animals
  • control illegal access to the park.
