About the ACT Chief Engineer

As the most senior engineer in the ACT Government, the title of ACT Chief Engineer is currently held by the Director-General of Infrastructure Canberra (iCBR). It is an advisory function responsible for facilitating the engineering capability required to meet the future needs and growth of the Territory. The role of the ACT Chief Engineer is fulfilled in collaboration between ACT Government and Industry through the Board of Engineering Excellence.

Board of Engineering Excellence

The ACT Chief Engineer is supported and guided by a Board of Engineering Excellence.

This Board is a partnership between industry and government. It includes independent members from engineering, technology, planning, design, advisory and tertiary education sectors within the ACT. It is coordinated through the Office of the Chief Engineer in iCBR.

The Board strengthens our important partnership between industry and government. It provides expert advice and leadership in:

Professional Engineers Registration Scheme

The Professional Engineers Registration Scheme aims to maintain public confidence in the standard or services provided by professional engineers in the ACT. It aims to protect the public by ensuring that professional engineering services are delivered by professional engineers. The scheme is being championed by the ACT Chief Engineer.
