Who can lease a property
We deliver accommodation services for ACT Government owned and managed properties.
Community groups, small businesses and some commercial organisations can lease the premises we manage. Demand is high and few properties become vacant.
We keep a register of organisations interested in leasing an ACT Government property. Joining the register does not guarantee a property, but we contact organisations on the register when something suitable becomes available.
How to apply
- Read the Community and other tenancies application and allocation policy to check whether you are eligible.
- Read the guidelines for completing an application.
- Complete the application form and checklist.
- Send your completed application to us by email or post.

We do not publish a list of vacant properties. To ask what is available, phone (02) 6213 0700, option 6, or email icbr.response@act.gov.au.
ACT Government tenants
If you work for an ACT Government agency, submit property applications and enquiries through Service Now.
Peppercorn leases
A peppercorn lease is a lease granted at a nominal rent, usually to a community organisation delivering a service to the public.
In 2018, the Select Committee on Estimates recommended that the ACT Government create a public register of organisations that benefit from peppercorn arrangements. The Government accepted the recommendation as part of its commitment to openness and transparency in annual reporting.
