Policy and Cabinet
We give strategic advice to our Chief Minister, the Head of Service, Ministers and Cabinet, and our public service colleagues.
What we do
We provide support and direction across the ACT Public Service on policy and strategy, including:
- supporting our Chief Minister as Head of the ACT Government and Chair of Cabinet
- giving advice and direction across the ACT Public Service on social, economic, planning and security policy issues
- providing government leadership on priority areas including wellbeing, regulation reform, territory records and LGBTIQA+ matters
- supporting the Head of the ACT Public Service in their roles as Secretary of Cabinet and Chair of Strategic Board
- working with directorates and agencies to develop policies, programs, communications and projects
- managing and coordinating the ACT's relationships with other authorities, including the Commonwealth, NSW, and local councils in the region
- representing the ACT at government forums, for example, National Cabinet and Council for the Australian Federation.
