Better public spaces and continued growth for our city

The City Renewal Authority has been allocated funding in the 2018/19 budget to continue to shape the growth of the City Renewal Precinct.

As well as continuing important place design projects and completing footpath upgrades within the city centre, the authority has been funded to undertake new improvement projects in Dickson and Braddon. Including new funding in this Budget, the authority will now have up to $5 million to implement precinct improvement projects in 2018-19.

The authority has also been allocated $500,000 in 2018/19 to implement a program of events and installations that will strengthen the distinctive character of the Civic, Dickson and Braddon. These activations will continue to make these areas more exciting and lively places for visitors, workers, customers and residents. They will also complement the program of activities funded by the City Centre Marketing and Improvement Levy.

The Sydney and Melbourne Buildings will receive further attention, building on the early phase of work to clean-up and de-clutter the laneways, opening up their courtyard spaces to greater public use.

Further stages of the West Basin Project will complete the next 500 metres of boardwalk, lake reclamation and new urban park areas.
