Loose parts play for children in Civic these upcoming school holidays

These April school holidays, the City Renewal Authority is bringing a different kind of play experience to Glebe Park. The Playful Endeavour loose-parts playground is back after it proved to be a popular attraction during a two-week stay in Civic Square last October.

Enlighten extends its shine into Civic

Haig Park and the Sydney and Melbourne Buildings will be in the spotlight during Enlighten 2019 as the festival comes to Civic for a second year. The Northbourne Avenue facades of the Sydney and Melbourne Buildings will be illuminated with the work of Canberra-based artist Hannah Quinlivan from 1-11 March 2019.

City improvement works re-invigorate Sydney and Melbourne Buildings

Canberrans and visitors are now able to use the new landscaped verges on Civic’s Sydney and Melbourne Buildings along Northbourne Avenue following the completion of this important public space project.

City place manager

A new, dedicated cleaning and maintenance team will help make Civic and Braddon cleaner, greener and more attractive. The new place manager will work within the City Renewal Authority and manage a team of three staff to do additional cleaning, gardening and maintenance of the city centre’s public spaces.

Culture Loop Shuttle Bus connecting Civic to Canberra’s cultural institutions

A new, free bus loop has been launched that connects Civic to Canberra’s cultural institutions. The Culture Loop Shuttle Bus runs seven days a week from 9am to 5pm with nine stops, at some of Canberra’s main attractions. Visitors to Canberra can explore Civic before hopping back on the free shuttle bus to travel into and around the parliamentary zone.

Braddon Place Plan

A new plan to help build on Braddon’s continued evolution includes increased street greening, pocket gardens, parklets and new places to sit as well as wider-footpaths and new connections through blocks. The Braddon Place Plan has been created in collaboration with the local community and builds on the area’s existing character.

Non-alcoholic beverage maker Altina Drinks, is doing research in Civic and Braddon to find out how “mindful drinking” activities, experiences and events are created and what the Canberra community feel they need more of in relation to non-alcoholic offerings.
