Plans are underway to upgrade City Walk from Ainslie Place to Allara Street, with initial designs to be shared for public feedback and suggestions in 2024.
The works will build on our award-winning 2020 City Walk upgrades and complement the upcoming Garema Place upgrade.
It will do so by transforming more of Canberra’s main pedestrian-only shopping precinct into a more beautiful, accessible and functional public space.
The 2020 City Walk upgrade installed landscaping, street furniture and public art from Garema Place to Ainslie Place. The community has since embraced the thriving high street experience.
In turn, this has contributed to a 340 per cent increase in evening visitation in the area, with flow-on social and economic benefits.
