The permaculture principles are the source of inspiration for Sue’s new body of work and are explored through the materiality of ceramics, including form, surface treatment, representation and imagery. After a mini break from touring and resting after the release of debut album ' Leaving With The Halflight' in 2023, Raising Ravens are ready to attack with the latest release 'Motives', a five track EP full of energy and velocity. 2024 is going to be one to remember. Help celebrate their new music with supports from legends Alice Cottee and The Strike-Outs.
'Motives' was written ultimately as a purge of negative experiences both personal and universal from the past two years as a way of understanding or coming to terms with what motivates human beings to do the things they do.
Raising Ravens was conceived by Australian artist, Jess Finlayson in 2020 and grew into a musical nebula over the following years of mayhem and chaos.
Including contributions from some of Jess’s favourite musical comrades, Raising Ravens has become more of a collective than one singular entity and continues to evolve. Choosing to remain completely independent, Jess created her own label, Interloper Records with all Raising Ravens releases being launched from a platform owned and run by the artist.<>Reservoir PR+MGMT;-35.2785208<>149.1285147<>6630a359fd493e8a1eda58a0<>Capital Samba & Alejandro Florez [Bossa - Samba - Flamenco - Latin]<>Enjoy an enchanting concert of Brazilian and Spanish rhythms as the rich musical traditions and cultures of Spain and Ibero-America are intertwined in an unforgettable evening filled with the captivating sounds of bossa nova, samba, and flamenco and Spanish guitar.<>Clandestino Events;-35.2785208<>149.1285147<>6630a62c6b120e3818d3f575<>Los Chavos @ Smiths [Latin - Ska - Reggae]<>Prepare to move and groove to the captivating rhythms of Los Chavos, Canberra's premier Latin ska reggae band! Each piece draws on one of the 12 permaculture principles to create a collection of new ceramic works that contain a positive, non-judgmental message about how each of us can choose to change our behaviour to make a difference. Now more than ever we need to examine our relationship to planet Earth.
The permaculture principles are the source of inspiration for Sue’s new body of work and are explored through the materiality of ceramics, including form, surface treatment, representation and imagery. This project draws together Sue's love of ceramics and extensive experience as a permaculture and landscape designer, involvement in community-led projects such as the Lyneham Commons Food Forest, and a deep concern for the way our actions are impacting the planet and the future of its inhabitants.<>Craft + Design Canberra;-35.2830507<>149.125972<>65cd9fa053814107622e2194<>Gaslight<>Young, trusting, and fragile – Bella Manningham thinks she’s losing her mind.
