What we do
ACT Corrective Services (ACTCS) is a business unit in the Justice and Community Safety Directorate.
We provide adult correctional services to people in custody and to people serving community-based orders.
ACTCS is responsible for the operation of the Alexander Maconochie Centre. We also provide transport services for adult and juvenile detainees in the ACT, and between interstate correctional centres.

Unreasonable behaviour
Our workers are an important part in making our service a safe and welcoming environment for people.
If you are aggressive or violent towards them, they cannot do their jobs.
Disrespectful, abusive, aggressive or threatening behaviour towards our staff or other visitors is not tolerated. This includes swearing, yelling, and sexual or gendered comments.
If such behaviour occurs, we may:
- ask you to leave our premises and/or end a phone call with you
- contact the police for assistance
- issue you with a warning or, in some cases, place restrictions on your future interactions with ACT Corrective Services.
ACT Corrective Services has obligations under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (ACT) to provide staff a safe environment that is free from threats of harm, violence or aggression.

Before you call, read get money to a detainee to learn about phone and online transfer options.
To deposit money to a detainee, call the Detainee Payment System (Westpac) on 1300 546 086.
If you need help depositing money, call AMC Detainee Finance on 1800 859 164.
