An ACT Government Website

Summary

These practical resources were developed to build sector capacity to cost services accurately. We did this in response to recommendation 4 of the Counting the Costs report. The resources are for human services non-government organisations (NGOs) who work with us. They give us a common language to use between us as funders and the groups we fund. Using the same terms and building a shared understanding of finance processes will help us all.

The resources and costing tools will help organisations to build their understanding of:

  • financial language
  • record keeping
  • costing models.

When organisations use similar terms and processes, it helps us to make consistent funding decisions. We aim to make consistent and sustainable funding and pricing decisions across the human services system.

The resources include:

  • presentations to introduce the tools
  • a costing framework
  • practical Excel costing models
  • a handbook.
